Sustainable Development Goals and Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year is about celebrating abundance and wealth; commit to advocating for the Sustainable Development Goals to your family! At the same time, learn new Chinese New Year greetings to impress your elders.

SDG 1 : No Poverty

阖家幸福 (hé jiā xìng fú)

Commit to ending poverty in all its forms everywhere. Although the issue of poverty is much more complex than a lack of resources and wealth, learn more about how you as an individual could help to end poverty.

SDG 2 : Zero Hunger

五谷丰收 (wǔ gǔ fēng shōu)

While we are georging on Chinese New Year snacks and hotpot, there are people around us that – for them food security is not a given. Take personal action towards ending hunger!

SDG 3 : Good Health and Wellbeing

生龙活虎 (shēng lóng huó hǔ)

People say that health is wealth. Therefore, being responsible for your own health is almost as important as receiving your red packets

SDG 8 : Decent Work and Economic Growth

飞黄腾达 (fēi huáng téng dá)

Put your Ang Bao money to good use this Chinese New Year!

SDG 10 : Reduced Inequalities

福满人间 (fú mǎn rén jiān)

Some of us are more privileged in this world than others. We may have unequal access to resources and that could have a knock-on effect in what we do and the choices we make. 

SDG 14 : Life Below Water

年年有余 (nián nián yǒu yú)

More than 70% of our Earth is oceans and it provides a home for a large number of inhabitants. However, we have not been very kind to it, from micro-plastics to oil spills the ocean needs our help!

SDG 15 : Life On Land

春意盎然 (chūn yì àng rán)

As Scouts, nature and the great outdoors is our classroom. Sharing this classroom are also our friends, land animals and plants! find out how we can protect them!

SDG 16 : Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions

岁岁平安 (suì suì píng'ān)

The world is a series of complex institutions interacting with each other. Much of Singapore’s economic success can be attributed to our lack of conflict and strong institutions learn more about how you can play a part in maintaining this.
