Earth Hour 2018

In partnership with WWF Singapore, The Singapore Scout Association (SSA) is once again proud to support Earth Hour since its humble beginnings in Singapore in 2009.

On 24th March 2018, at 8.30pm, Singapore will join thousands of cities across the world in switching off non- essential lighting for one hour -Earth Hour- sending a powerful global message that it is possible to take action against global warming. This year, the main event will be held at The Float.

Earth Hour started in 2007 in Sydney, Australia when 2.2 million individuals turned their lights off for one hour to take a stand against climate change. Within a year, Earth Hour had become a global sustainability movement with more than 50 million people participating across 35 countries. Now it is a global

60+ Countdown Bash

Date: Saturday, 24th March 2018

Time: 06:30pm – 09:30pm (Scouts are free to come at any time)

Cost: Free-of-Charge (No transport or meals will be provided)

Earth Hour Souvenir Badge

*Only participants of the above mentioned programs (EH Marketplace, 60+ Bash) are eligible for the badge*

Closing Date: Saturday, 10th March 2018

Cost: S$2.00 (Subjected to GST)

Earth Hour 2018 Volunteers

Date: Saturday, 24th March 2018

Venue: The Float @ Marina Bay (20 Raffles Ave, Singapore 039805)

No Transport Will Be Provided

Time: 04:10pm – 10:30pm

*Must be able to commit to the full duration

Eligibility: At least 16 years of age – Scouts (Sec 4 and above), Ventures, Rovers and Adult Leaders.

Attire: Earth Hour T-shirt (provided), Scout Half Uniform and National Scarf

Cost: Free-of-Charge

Dinner will be provided, Earth Hour souvenir badge will be issued after the event.

Capacity: 32 Pax

In view of past overwhelming response, each unit will be allowed up to 8 volunteers so as to allow more unit participation.

How Do We Sign Up?

1. Please register yourself and your scouts via MSDS’s Youth Programme Registration portal: http://intranet.scout.org.sg

2. Complete Annex C and email to [email protected] for administrative purposes.

Accepted registration will be notified. Acceptance based on a ‘First come, first served’ basis.

Roles and Responsibilies

Will be assigned at a later date.

Artists Coordinators (10 pax)

To assist and update artists on their schedule.

Stage Coordinators (10 pax)

To ensure that the performers are on standby at the stage, ready for their performance.

Mascots (12 pax)

To put on costumes, roam the venue and interact with members of public.
